You should discuss the matter with the landlord or their agent. Whilst you are probably liable for rent for the term of the tenancy agreement the landlord has a statutory duty to try and find a new tennant as soon as possible, you are then only liable for the time the property is vacant. In London this is not going to be difficult so you may find that the landlord or agent is prepared to negotiate because it is better for them if you pay something rather than just going back to India. If you do go just go back to India they are unlikely to try and pursue it further but obviously you will never be able to get any kind of reference from them if you ever return.
