How can I avoid putting my fianc on my apartment lease agreement?

Getting married first might help. Idk. Hopefully you've been living there for a long time, have been a model tenant, and have been prompt with your rent for the entire length of your tenancy. Hopefully your fianc has had good rental and employment histories since he's been out. If so, he should put together a rental resume with all his references of the past three years. Hopefully, that will be enough for your landlord. Does your landlord run credit checks on all his tenants? Is there any plausible explanation for the low scores like medical debt? If not, for the time period he was incarcerated, he could say he was renting a room upstate for a while taking care of his parents and lost the contact info of his old landlord. He was unemployed for that time. Idk. Just don't create a resume that the landlord can't confirm as being fabricated. (I can already hear landlords losing their shit over that paragraph. Landlords don't have anywhere near the struggle and work that tenants have to go through and endure when compared to the little work it takes for a landlord to get another tenant. A little stretching of the truth never hurt anyone. Admit it, you've stretched the truth a little bit when it comes to your tenants.)
