What if my yearly signed lease agreement ended and my landlord asked?

What if my yearly signed lease agreement ended and my landlord asked will I be leaving? I told him no yet he never furnished an updated yearly lease agreement for me to sign, am I obligated to stay for another year? It depends what your current lease says. Your lease should have clear instructions as to what happens at the end of the lease term. For example, the lease that I have my tenants sign is a one year lease that turns into a month to month lease at the end of the year term. The stipulations of the month to month lease are that they need to give me 30 days notice before moving out. They are then able to use the last months rent that they already paid me for that final 30 days. In your case, the lease could say just about anything. Its possible the least just expired and you have no obligation to stay at all. It also may have some sort of auto renew clause that says that you needed to state in writing that you were leaving within a certain period or it automatically renews for another year. In any case, no one on the internet can answer this question for you. But the answer is already written in the lease you signed.
