Is it legal for my landlord to put a clause in my lease agreement?

As pointed out below, you do not own the building. Unless it is something against the written law or normal societal mores, the landlord can basically put any limitations on your use of his property. If you do not like the restrictions, you try to get them to modify them or you do not sign the lease. Non-smokers think smoke residue in a room smells horrible.
