The eviction note on a background check should show what court supposedly did the eviction. You can look the case up online. If it is not online, call the clerk of the court. They could have gotten the file incorrectly identified to you by accident (similar names for example). Ask them how to get the file corrected. If you can see the case online you can probably see enough to figure out what happened. If however the information all makes it seem like it was you, see if there are any additional parties. Could your old gf/bf have somehow put you on a lease? Your mom? Your dad? If you are still puzzled, contact the person who got the eviction. Ask questions. If there is a reasonable explanation, they should offer to fix it. If not, file a police report and put a fraud watch on all your information.
